Dog Days of Summer

I thought I needed to update a little bit. I turned 63 a week or so ago. I am a little down that we haven't sold the house yet. I think that it will be just a matter of time. I have been very busy at work lately. We are working on an extension to our current light rail line, and also a start on a street car demonstration line. That means that the city of Charlotte is building a 1.5 mile line from center city to the community college and hospital. The long term plan calls for extending that farther in both directions. The Streetcar project is marked to open in 2015 and the light rail extension 2019. On top of that we are getting ready for the upcoming Democratic National Convention that is to be held in Charlotte. There is a lot of planning with the security (as in Secret Service) for that. I have been trying to hire an additional employee to replace the one that left and went to DC.

The time has been flying by, and if I have to stay in Charlotte for another year, before I retire, that will probably fly by also. I will post a picture of the excitement I was having on my 63rd.

  1. Happy belated birthday Lou!

The housing market seems to be bad all over, have faith maybe the economic outlook will be better after the presidential elections or at least that is what I am hoping.

At least you have a job, not everyone is as fortunate. Take care.

  2. Happy Birthday! Don't you just HATE having to practice patience!? Yeah yeah, it's good for us and all but it really blows. We're in the same waiting game ourselves. We bought that Airstream we talked about and we've gutted it down to the frame to restore. Shouldn't be too long and we can hit the road!

  3. Selling the house is the worst. We sold the Wake Forest house in 2008, and felt lucky to get out when we did. The first hint of real estate market collapse was in the air. We made zero money, but were very happy to get shed of it. Hope the Charlotte market picks up soon and you can sell. Happy belated. You look as thrilled to be 63 as I will be to be 60.

    1. Thanks Allison, I took that picture of myself, and it made me laugh, so I published it. We Witnesses don't celebrate birthdays, but that doesn't stop us from getting older:-) now does it?
